Fun in My Life

1. The wife of Engineering School’s Dean is on my thesis committee. She stayed out of town in the past week, but I was urgently in need of her signature. I failed to reach her through any means I tried. Two days later nothing remained left for me to try. So I went to find her husband…. and it turned out to be working. My officemates and I all believed it was something wild to do…

2. Last Monday my professor literally said “Mingwu, I don’t know what I can do without you for the summer…” I am happy with it, but it would be much cooler if it was said by girls…

3. I gave a ride to Andrea and Spencer after the indoor soccer game last Monday, when Andrea apologized for being bossy and sentimental during the game by saying, “I am sorry guys. It’s all because of my period.”

I was like, “Yeah… I still remember my last period. That was really bad…”

4. Mike Burt was one of my best friends when I was in Columbus OH between 2007-2010. In his 50s he was really religious and therefore seemingly conservative. One day he started using a smart phone, which was totally unexpected to me. So I kidded him like, “Hey Mike, I think this cell phone is too fancy to you.” He explained like, “Oh, I am getting ready just in case I can become a celebrity sometime in the future.” I kidded him like, “I think you are over-prepared, man…”

I have to mark the incredibly tough indoor soccer game we played at Dem Hall last Monday. We won by 3:2 after two overtimes… Now we are among the Sweet 16 out of 128 teams.

The other team scored first and we got it even, but they finished the first half by leading us with 2:1. We got the ball passed the other team’s goal, but the ref did not see it and made it void. Damn it… But still we scored another one before the end of second half.  2 mins before the end of the second overtime, we scored a third goal. But the ref gave the other team one free tick really close to our goal and one penalty afterwards. Joel was our hero and protected our goal well even from the penalty.

Such a tough game. Such a touch game. I am so excited to be part of the team and win this tough tough game. I also really wanna thank Earl to put everybody together as a team. Hopefully we can go further in the later games.
