1. Spencer and I watched the soccer game between OSU and MSU over one month ago. We kidded people by telling them it was our first date. On our way to the game we dropped by a booth where a girl was selling sports wears, when Spencer bought a scarf. He talked to me later like, “That girl was cute, Barton. No offense, but I prefer to have a date with her over you…” I was like, “Dude, this is the worst first date EVER…”
2.1 I attended a seminar fixing graduate assistant’s pronunciation on campus the other day, which was offered by MSU annually. One guy came to this seminar last year but comes here again this year. He asked the lecturer if that was OK. The lecturer was like, “Well you are welcome, but the pronunciation this year is no difference from last year…”
2.2 There were a number of American students helping us in the seminar and the one in my group is named Sarah. She told us she came from Ann Arbor to MSU not UMichigan because she would like to stay away from her parents. Just when she told us she planned to study aboard for graduate study, I interrupted her and made a guess like, “… because you wanna stay farther from your parents?”
3. I had a paper accepted by a prestigious journal allowing authors to put their photo and bibliography behind the paper to meet their ego needs. After Rama spread the news with people by email, I replied all like, “Now I have to worry about which photo to use, this requires a lot of work…”
Rama replied like, “Remember only scientists will see the photo…” I was like, “Just in case some dating website hacks the journal and posts my photo on their site. It might do me something good…”
On the other hand, Federico was like, “Most of all, they may reject the paper just because of your photo, Mingwu..”

During the half time break of the soccer game mentioned above, kids took turns to take a shot at the goal kept by Sparty (MSU’s mascot). And the following photo was of the kids waiting to take a shot… Oh,,, poor Sparty…
